Building houses on gardens
Posted by davidburbage on March 15, 2007
The Government call it “brownfield”, or the even worse euphemism “Previously developed land” – but to most people green gardens are not either. Yet the Liberal Democrats voted through more housing on gardens along Alwyn Road in Pinkneys Green yesterday, against united Conservative opposition and despite a local Libdem councillor complaining, her colleagues voted the houses through.
This could pave the way (unfortunate pun) for many more gardens to be built on up and down Alwyn Road, redeveloping green corridors into tarmac access roads and extra housing and traffic, if the legacy of Shoppenhangers Road is anything to go by.
