Lowest Borough Council Tax

Posted by davidburbage on January 30, 2009

We announced the lowest Council Tax increase in the history of the Royal Borough today – 2009/10 council tax will increase by just 1.9% – a massive 3.1% below the September RPI benchmark uplift for pensions and benefits.

We brought the local press in to brief them this morning – Council votes on the proposals later in February.

One Response to “Lowest Borough Council Tax”

  1. Still too high, this year councils should be setting an example to the rest of the country and refuse to ask the electorate for more. We read in the press that the most worrying bill is the fuel account. On the whole the council tax bill is higher, so why are we not all complaining?
At the same time, this Conservative opposition must give voters a crumb of hope by announcing changes to the present system of funding local government.
