Government Money for Holyport Manor

Posted by davidburbage on March 14, 2007

The Borough announced that the DfES has awarded £23.6 million to build a new Holyport Manor School. This is the biggest cash sum ever given to the Council as far as I am aware and will certainly make a big difference to our ability to look after kids with Special Educational Needs in the future.

There is a widespread disagreement about whether the school should be rebuilt on site in Holyport or rebuilt in Cox Green, but wherever it ends up, this is a fantastic amount of money.

(Of course, it is money that was taken in taxes in the first place, so let’s not give the Government too much credit!). It certainly appears to vindicate choosing a Special School for the use of the funds.
