Picking up litter

I’ll post photos of this later when I get them off the digital cameras but we had a “good” time picking up litter and rubbish from the York Stream on Sunday. It is pretty clear that nobody does this from the EA and neither do the Council despite the fact that the most heavily-used part of the Green Way runs right behind the Council’s offices, there is where you get the most litter, graffiti and mess. Pretty disgraceful actually, within a stone’s throw of the Town Hall.

Litter we discovered, not all of which we could shift / get to, included a ladder, part of a number plate, heavy orange blocks used to weigh down fencing, huge plastic cans (must have been 200 litre) plus hundreds of plastic bags, paper, bottles, wrappers, cigarette butts…
